Number 4: Selflessness – The Ability to Love while Being Hated
"Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise..."
Nelson Mandela led the effort to end Apartheid and establish a democratic South Africa by working with his friends and enemies. In spite of a lifetime of persecution by the Apartheid government and being hated by them, Mandela negotiated in good faith and established trust.
Selflessness requires:
1. Subordinating one’s personal needs
2. Making selflessness a habit
3. Committing to one’s cause
4. Establishing boundaries and priorities
